Duvenbeck group opens new logistics centre in Hungary

Duvenbeck location in Kecskemét acts as “green logistics centre“ with a focus on services for the automotive industry:

Based in Bocholt, the Duvenbeck corporate group has constructed a logistics centre in Kecskemét, Hungary, situated just next to the planned automotive factory of Daimler AG. On a 5,000 m² area comprehensive services – in particular for the automotive industry – will be provided. Concrete orders have already been issued. Shock absorbers and car glass is already stored and sequenced at the facility.

Moreover Duvenbeck will operate the trailer yard there on behalf of Daimler. The number of employees shall grow to about 100 persons in 2012. Duvenbeck has so far invested EUR 4 million into the new site. Another EUR 1.5 million are budgeted for storage technology, trailers and trailer converters. The “Mobiler“-system will be used for the first time for intermodal handling in the automotive segment.

For the future Duvenbeck plans two expansion stages, allowing for a total area of 14,000m². Construction plans are already approved. „As soon as an order is issued we are able to expand the capacity within three months“, says Gregor Egerer, manager of the new location. The construction of the new location is another milestone in the Duvenbeck group’s strategy to become established as a full service logistics provider in the automotive industry.

The Duvenbeck group with 2,200 employees has generated a turnover at EUR 220 million in 2010. Transport business accounted for the lion’s share of the revenue. These business activities are based on 850 trucks and 1,218 trailers as well as 750 swap bodies. The network consists of 28 own locations in eight European countries (Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Spain).
