Wilh. Schon GmbH & Co. KG joins Rhenus group

Takeover of Wilh. Schon GmbH & Co. KG enhances the Rhenus group’s product portfolio in the consumer goods logistics segment:

Effective 1 August 2011 the Rhenus group acquires 100 per cent of the shares of the forwarding company Spedition Wilh. Schon GmbH & Co. KG. The company from Traben-Trarbach, Rhineland-Palatinate, is rich in tradition and specialises in transport of wine and consumer goods. With the new owner the firm will act in the market using the name Rhenus Schon GmbH & Co. KG. The company supplies German food retailers and discounters on behalf of reputable producers of wine, sparkling wine and spirits.

„The integration of Wilh. Schon GmbH & Co. KG into our organisation completes our product range in the segment of consumer goods“, explains Bernd Markmann, Member of the Management at Rhenus Contract Logistics,in charge of the region South-West. The new acquisition is mainly operating in the region around the river Mosel. The products are transported from the wine growing region to destinations of food trade and discounters according to a fixed schedule.

„All jobs will be preserved in the course of adding this location to the world of Rhenus. We want to boost the development in Traben-Trarbach in the future by making further investments, to exhaust available potentials in the consumer goods segment of this region“, says Bernd Markmann.
