Fössl starts insolvency proceedings

Fössl Gesellschaft m.b.H. plans to continue operating certain segments

Bankruptcy proceedings about the assets of the Fössl Gesellschaft m.b.H. in Grafenstein in Carinthia have been opened at the Landesgericht Klagenfurt (regional court) on March 31. The insolvency affects 32 employees and around 250 creditors. According to the KSV1870 (Austrian association for the protection of creditors) debts are amounting to around EUR 2.26 million. The enterprise intends to continue operating the segments disposition and special transportations. The international transport segment is about to be closed. Peter Staller, Siegfried Staller and Johann Rauscher are shareholders of the Fössl forwarding company. The Management is in the hands of Hansjörg Schusser.

According to the company’s bankruptcy petition the insolvency is due to the non-satisfying economic results during the last years – caused by high fuel costs in the first six months of 2008 – and a drop in order volumes in the second half of 2008. Bad dept losses and dumping prices of eastern competitors were the reasons why the company could not achieve a positive operational result despite considerable restructuring and downsizing measures of the fleet.
