Fercam group launches first „Company Train“

 
Fercam-blocktrain operates daily between Verona and Cologne-Eiffeltor

The Bolzano-based Fercam Group, which had been operating in combined road/rail transport for 30 yeras, now opens up a new era. The South Tyrolean transportation and logistics enterprise is operating a „Company Train“ since December 3rd. The blocktrain is daily operated on the route between Verona Porta Nuova and Cologne-Eiffeltor.

The northbound traffic handles tile consignments from the area around Sassuolo. In the opposite direction the „Company Train“ supplies the Italian tile manufacturers with alumina from Greater Frankfurt. The company uses its own swap trailers and containers on this route. The private railway TX Logistik provides the wagons and traction.

Fercam Group employs around 1,350 persons at 53 locations in Europe and a subsidiary in Morocco. The annual turnover of 2008 will be around EUR 485 million. The annual volume in combined road/rail transport amounts to about 30,000 units that were so far only handled by the two combined transport operators Cemat and Hupac.
