Gefco develops European liner network

Gefco group’s general cargo service shall grow 9 per cent in 2011 by focussing on industrial customers

The year 2011 stands under the sign of “a genuine European liner network“ at the Gefco group. “First we will focus on Germany and Central and Eastern European countries. As big volumes are exported from these countries, it is sometimes difficult to organise profitable returns“, the enterprise announces in a press release. Gefco strives to achieve a nine per cent growth in this segment in the year 2011.

„We are striving for continuous growth, based on a profitable general cargo business for the benefit of industrial customers with international goods flows“, Pierre-Yves Laval, manager general cargo Europ Gefco, explains the course. He announced a closing of the transport cycles and hence an improved management of goods flows. The relevant package of measures is based on optimised rotation schedules, revised operating standards and a determination of generally applicable indicators for all countries within the international network of the Gefco group.

The European network of Gefco covers 140 locations with 400 international and 813 domestic general cargo liner services, 194 of them focussing on big industrial enterprises. Up to 39,800 general cargo consignments and full loads are handled per day. Delivery in Europe takes 24 to 72 hours.
