Hupac Group registers less combined consignments

Hupac Management sees bottom line arrived

Also operators of combined road/rail transport feel the impact of the global economic crisis on their business volumes. The Swiss Hupac Group registered a 21.9 per cent decline between January and July to 292,426 consignments compared to the previous year. In May and June the negative trend showed a stable level of minus 15 per cent. This was the reason why Director Bernhard Kunz supposed the bottom line was reached. According to the press release of the Hupac headquarters the economic programmes elaborated together with the railway companies have a positive effect.

The decline in volumes affects all transport segments to the same amount. The only exception is the transalpine transport through Austria, which showed a plus of 40.9 per cent thanks to the introduction of a new relation connecting Taulov (Denmark) and Verona. A strong decline in demand became apparent within the rolling road segment.
