Potential merger of JALI and Nippon Cargo Airlines

Japan Airlines (JAL) and Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) examine a potential merger of their international air cargo services. In a position paper the two Japanese groups, which are established in the transport industry, express their interest in joining the cargo segments of Japan Airlines International (JALI) and Nippon Cargo Airlines (NCA).

The date to start the potential merger is scheduled for 1 April 2010. Joint activities would make them the clear market leader in air cargo transport from and to Japan and considerably improve profitability, as representatives of both companies state the advantages of a potential fusion.
