Kerry-Talke expanding polymer logistics in China

First bagging line of Kerry-Talke Chemicals Logistics in Shanghai

Kerry-Talke Chemical Logistics, a joint venture of Kerry Logistics and Talke Logistic Services, has started operating the first bagging line and hence the expansion of polymer handling in China. The facility for refilling and packing of plastics is located in the Waigaogiao free trade area in Shanghai. It is part of a multi-user logistics centre, which comprises several floors of warehouses and a container terminal that covers 80,000 sq.m. of total floor. On medium term the concept shall be extended to all eight locations of Kerry-Talke at the eastern Chinese coast.

The target of the Kerry-Talke polymer handling concept will be taking over plastic granules in deep sea containers arriving from their production plants in the Near and Middle East, the U.S. and south-eastern Asia. The plastic is then further processed in China and will be filled and packed according to customers’ demands. Shipping in lose bulk allows our customers to position their products very close to the reception market, right before the final packing technic is selected“, Kerry-Talke General Manager Kevin Loyens explains their strategy.

Established in 2007 the joint venture Kerry-Talke Chemical Logistics, headquartered in Shanghai combines Talke’s special chemical and petrochemical know how with the extensive network of Kerry Logistics in China. Apart from polymer importations the service portfolio comprises also the operation of logistics centres, exportation services and quality controls for customers from the chemical and petrochemical industry.
