Mining company signs contracts with Mitsui O.S.K. Lines

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) ships iron ore for Rio Tinto

Rio Tinto and Mitsui O.S.K. LInes (MOL) will intensify their cooperation regarding the transports of raw materials with a number of contracts with different runtimes. The Japanese shipping company (MOL) is one of the main partners of the mining company (Rio Tinto) when it comes to the shipment of iron ore. The cooperation between the two companies is a long-standing one and has now resulted in the conclusion of contracts with runtimes of up to 25 years that include the use of so-called "Cape-size"-ships with a capacity of up to 250.000 dwt.

Mitsui O.S.K. LInes will handle an annual volume of about 10 million tons of iron ore for Rio Tinto. This number does not include shipments based on "spot contracts".
