New cranes at container terminal DCT Gdansk

Three new crane systems at Polish deepwater port Gdansk

The container terminal DCT Gdansk received new equipment. At the beginning of this month the terminal started operating three new „rubber tyred gantry cranes“ – RTGs in technical jargon. The new acquisitions increase the number of crane systems at the Polish deepwater ports to 8 units. The storage capacity for containers is declared to be 20,000 TEU. Hence there is sufficient capacity available to attend to the client Maersk Line, whose Polish hub was relocated from Gdynia to Gdansk as per December 1st, 2008.

DCT Gdansk operates a quay facility with a total length of 650 metres. Opened in October 2007, the terminal allows handling vessels with a maximum draught of 16.5 metres. The annual capacity amounts to around 500,000 TEU.
