Official opening of RailPort Arad in Curtici

RailPort Arad starts as multimodal hub in western Romania

On a more than 10 hectares-site in Curtici RailPort Arad was inaugurated with a ceremony at the beginning of this week. The container terminal serves as a multimodal hub for cargo transportations from and to western Romania.

The location is directly linked by railway to the economic centres in eastern Hungary and western Romania. Moreover there is a weekly block train connection with around 60,000 tons of annual capacity to the seaport of Koper.

Operator of RailPort Arad is a joint venture equally formed by MÁV Cargo, Luka Koper and the Slovakian logistics company TTI. Luka Koper wants to establish the hub in Curtici as a faster and less expensive alternative to Black Sea ports for transportations to and from western Romania.
