Positive development of DPD Austria and primetime

Parcel service DPD Austria and express service provider primetime registered clear uptrend in the year 2010

The year 2010 was marked by growth for the parcel service DPD Austria and the express service provider primetime. DPD Austria transported 37.5 million parcels (up 5.4 per cent) and generated a turnover of more than EUR 153 million, which means a 4 per cent-increase compared to 2009. The national parcel dispatch segment grew 3.6 per cent. Exportation showed a 12.5 per cent-plus, while importation improved 6.2 per cent. The main reason therefore was the growing parcel volume in Germany.

“It is a great pleasure for us to report a clear plus for 2010. In the second half of the year business has grown particularly strong“, explains Rainer Schwarz (50), managing director DPD Austria GmbH. With national parcel dispatch the enterprise profits from a growing tendency of shrinking or closing regional central warehouses. Schwarz: “DPD is able to provide replacement for such situations and take over direct dispatch in place of these distribution centres.“

The express service provider primetime handled around 2.8 million parcels in 2010. Compared to 2009 this is a 8.12 per cent-increase. The main growth drivers were the positive economic development and demand for high quality services. primetime was able to benefit from additional services in 2010. Saturday’s delivery before 9 am. showed a 37% increase in parcels. The additional exchange service of primetime showed a 25 per cent-plus compared to the previous year. Returns management generated a 16 per cent plus in 2010.
