Schmidt Group and Imperial Logistics starting joint initiative

Cooperation between Imperial Logistics and Schmidt Group in Duisburg

The Heilbronn-based Schmidt Group and Imperial Logistics International GmbH (Duisburg) are closing ranks. The two enterprises intend to construct a handling facility for dry bulk cargo at the RRT container terminal in Duisburg, serving as alternative in the hinterland to the locations in the seaports Antwerp and Rotterdam. Acting as a Imperial Logistics International company, the RRT Rhein-Ruhr-Terminal GmbH will be charged with all handling services in the new facility as well as pre-carriage with river vessels from the moment of takeover of bulk cargo at the seaports. Schmidt will be in charge of on-carriage either by silo-trucks or with container transport on the rail from Duisburg.

Since its establishment in 1948 the Schmidt Group evolved into a leading provider of bulk good transportations in Europe. Last year 1,200 employees dispatched more than 4.6 million tons of goods at 31 locations. 11,000 silos with a capacity of 415,000 cbm and more than 100,000 square metres of storage space are available for warehousing services. The fleet consists of 800 silo vehicles, more than 4,000 containers and numerous special machines for the handling of bulk goods.
