Advance of low-emission gas vehicles with DPD Austria

Up to 25 per cent less CO2 emissions: parcel company DPD Austria supplies Shopping City Süd environmentally friendly with gas-driven vehicles

DPD Austria is implementing their sustainability program according to schedule. Every depot of Austria’s leading private parcel service company has at least one environmentally firendly gas-driven vehicle since the start of this year.

Also Europe’s biggest shopping mall – Shopping City Süd in Vösendorf near Vienna – is supplied through gas-vehicles since a few months ago, announces the company in a press release. The transporter of DPD’s Depots 0621 in Leopoldsdorf near Vienna can save 20 to 25 per cent of CO2 emissions compared with diesel-driven vehicles.

“This reduction is a concrete and local action, which also saves the environment in a greater context. The use of gas-driven vehicles goes totally in line with our sustainability philosophy“, says Rainer Schwarz, Managing Director DPD.

Gas has proven as environmentally friendly, but also feasible alternative to diesel for the parcel service company. They experienced no difference in daily operation between the gas-driven delivery vehicles and diesel-driven vehicles. Safety as well as loading and driving was identical. A particular advantage was the reach of the vehicle in long-distance operation, which is up to 1,000 kilometres longer. Thus the company will shortly acquire more gas-driven vehicles, they announced.
