cargo-partner takes another expansion step in Asia

International logistician cargo-partner opens location in Colombo (Sri Lanka)

The international provider of logistics services cargo-partner ads another element to its Asian network. As the civil war has now an end, the enterprise is to open its own location with 6 employees in Colombo. They expect an increase in traffic between the western European locations and Sri Lanka, as the headquarters in Fischamend near Vienna announce. CEO Stefan Krauter “Thanks to my longstanding, personal friendship with our new Manager in Colombo we were able to add this young but promising market to our global network, and meet all customer requirements there.“

According to the cargo-partner group Sri Lanka shows an increasing requirement of diverse industrial products. Moreover the island, which is 31 kilometres in the south of India, has a growing importance as a strategic junction on the international navigation route between west and south-western Asia as well as for intercontinental links.

“Meanwhile the port of Colombo has an accumulated throughput volume of 3.46 million TEU in the year 2009 and is 26th on the world ranking. Bandaranaike airport, 35-kilometres away from Colombo, is being reinforced by the construction of another airport – the Hambantota International Airport. The construction works are planned to start before May 2010; the additional airport shall serve to handle international flights, but also offer a direct link to the nearby port of Hambantota as an area for throughput between air and sea freight“, the cargo-partner Management states.
