Coffee logistician NKG Kala Hamburg attending to new large-scale project

NKG Hala Hambürg controls raw coffee logistics for Sara Lee

NKG Kala Hamburg (Neumann Group) is to take over the complete green coffee logistics for three Sara Lee roasting houses in Europe. Cooperating closely with Decotrade AG in Zug (Switzerland), a specialist for raw material purchase, they elaborated a concept to optimise warehousing of three Sara Lee roasting houses in Northern and Eastern Europe, which have also largely been implemented by now. The cooperation agreement is valid for five years.

NKG Kala Hamburg will manage the raw materials flow to Northern and Eastern Europe for Decotrade, which had been handled via Antwerp previously. The activities comprise the takeover of the container and trucking management, warehousing, the mixing and setting up of components according to orders for the individual locations, quality control and the handling of customs and tax formalities. The annual volume is between 60,000 and 80,000 tons.

NGK Kala is a company of the Neumann Kaffee Group (NKG). This group renders 7 per cent of the global exportations and 15 per cent of the global importations of the world’s leading provider of services for green coffee. NKG has around 2,100 permanent employees of several professions. The annual turnover amounts to USD 1.7 billion. At the facilities of NKG Kala Hamburg around 290,000 tons or 14,500 containers of coffee were handled last year. This equals about 43 billion cups of coffee. The outlook of the enterprise concerning throughput in 2009 is about 350,000 tons. About 90,000 tons of the annually handled goods at NKG Kala Hamburg are forwarded from Hamburg towards Northern, Eastern and Western Europe.
