Hanjin Shipping inaugurated “Busan New Port Phase 2-1 Terminal“

New Hanjin Shipping-terminal for large container vessels in Busan 

Last week the South Korean shipping company Hanjin Shipping inaugurated the “Busan New Port Phase 2-1 Terminal“ – a new port facility for the handling of large-scale container vessels. The terminal complex at the Port of Busan is situated on a 687,700 square metres-area. A quay with total length of 1,100 metres provides three berths for vessels with 18 metres draught and 12,000 TEU capacity. The facility’s annual capacity is around 2 million TEU. 

Hanjin Shipping operates five container terminals in South Korea. Further facilities are located in Taiwan (Kaohsiung), Japan (Osaka, Tokyo), U.S. (Long Beach, Oakland, Seattle), Belgium (Antwerp) and the Netherlands (Rotterdam). Container terminals in Algeciras (Spain), Tan Cang-Cai Mep (Vietnam) and Jacksonville in the U.S.-state of Florida will be added to this network until 2012.
