Militzer & Münch performs pioneer work in Libya

First joint venture for forwarding services in Libya with western majority holding

Taking a remarkable step, the M&M Militzer & Münch group performs pioneer work by expanding their international network. On 1 May M&M Militzer & Münch Deutsche Holding GmbH (Hof) formed a joint venture with Tegerhy International Shipping Co., Tripolis/Libyen.

The joint venture acts under the name M&M Libya. Militzer & Münch is holding 51 per cent of the shares of the new company, 49 per cent of the share capital are in the hands of Tegerhy. Both partners of the joint venture are connected by a long partnership for the organisation of regular groupage cargo truck transportations from Western Europe to Libya. In this context Tegerhy acts as a delegation of Militzer & Münch in Libya. Apart from overland transport the joint venture will particularly reinforce project business and set up air and ocean freight services from/to Libya.

“This joint venture is our response to the progressing opening of the Libyan market“, says Peter Vogl, Chairman of the Management Germany, M&M Internationale Spedition GmbH. “Libya is not a ‚classic race track’ but it has to be developed. For customers the Libyan market is getting increasingly interesting because of the politic-economical integration.”

Founding M&M Libya, Militzer & Münch enhances its strong commitment in the Maghreb area. The provider of transport logistics services has been active in North Africa for more than 30 years. Their national companies in Tunisia and in Morocco are counting among the main actors in the transport and logistics market.

The Lybian partner Tegerhy International Shipping, headquartered in Tripolis, was established in 2004 and is operating locations in all Lybian ports today. The service portfolio of Tegerhy ranges from air and ocean freight to forwarding services and project business. “This joint venture combines the strengths of both enterprises. I’m sure we’re going to succeed in developing the increasingly important market of Lybia“, Peter Vogl points out.
