Ökombi about to expand on the Danube axis

Ökombi’s rolling road on the Danube axis to be tripled and new routes to be added

Ökombi GmbH sets new course on the Dnaube axis. With additional train services the operator of the rolling road (ROLA) wants to shift more transit traffic from the strongly frequented motorways Ostautobahn (A4), Außenringautobahn (A21) and Westautobahn (A1) to the railway. “It’s our aim to triple services provided on the Danube axis until autumn“, Franz Dirnbauer, General Manager of Ökombi, announced to the news service NÖ Wirtschaftspressedienst.

Apart from a railway station in Greater Vienna that is exactly defined yet, Hungary’s Mosonmagyaróvár and Bruck/Leitha are being discussed as possible points of departure for the new rolling road service. Regensburg is suitable as a destination railway station for the new RoLa connection. At the same time is being considered to establish a rolling road service between Budapest and Regensburg.

Regardless of whether railway station is chosen in the end, the effect of the new Ökombi services will be clearly visible on the domestic motorways“, Mr. Dirnbauer confirms. Last year 26,500 trucks were forwarded with the rolling road service on the only relation that is currently operated on the Danube axis between Wels and Szeged in Hungary.
