Siemens Austria selected GW as CEE logistician

Siemens Austria and freight forwarder Gebrüder Weiss expand cooperation

The Siemens Österreich AG concentrates the controlling and handling of European transports from and to 17 CEE countries at a single logistics partner. The cooperation with Gebrüder Weiss is to start on November 1. According to a press release of the two enterprises this provider has won the tender with 20 participating forwarding companies in an impressive way. The crucial fact was the dense international transportation network, the high rate of computer application and the coherent concept to bundle transportation volumes as far as possible. According to Gebrüder Weiss the contract amounts to a revenue of EUR 3.8 million per year.

Gebrüder Weiss has been connected to Siemens Austria by a long lasting cooperation, which has so far been concentrating on national transports. In 2008 approximately 5,400 consignments with a total weight of 1,200 tons will be dispatched. The Austrian national transports have their departure points at the Siemens-locations in Vienna, Siegendorf, Graz and Linz. The transmission of consignment data, tracking & tracing, and the billing of transports with a credit system are effected by paperless electronic data transfer.
