TNT Express defines Europe as its core market
New group-wide strategy of TNT Express aimed to maintain the company’s autonomy
The logistics group TNT Express focuses on a modified strategy. Against the background of a takeover bid by the competitor UPS, the group builds on the strengths of an autonomous enterprise. Concentration on the core business in Europe, and connections from Europe to all over the world shall yield profitable growth. Attractive growth opportunities in Europe may arise thanks to strong networks and the geographic structure of the enterprise, Marie-Christine Lombard, CEO TNT Express, explains the plans.
Moreover a rationalisation programme in Europe, the Middle East and Africa targeting EUR 150 million fixed cost reduction by end of 2013 is to be implemented. In parallel the management is looking for partnership opportunities for local operations in Brazil (TNT Merçurio) and China (Hoau). In 2011 TNT
Express employed 83,000 staff in more than 200 countries worldwide and generated a turnover at EUR 7.246 billion (2010: EUR 7.053 billion).
