UASC and partner: new Far East – Adriatic Sea liner service

Shipping companies Hanjin, HMM, UASC and Yang Ming launch joint service from Asia to the Adriatic Sea and return

The ports of the Adriatic Sea are getting another direct link to the economic centres in the Far East. The shipping companies UASC, Hanjin Shipping, Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) and Yang Ming are to start a direct service with weekly departures in both directions from the end of May. The background of these measures is the strongly increasing demand for capacities to ship container consignments with transhipment or destination ports in the Adriatic Sea, as the enterprises announced in a joint press release.

UASC, Hanjin, HMM and Yang Ming will jointly deploy eight Panamax vessels on this service and the port rotation will cover Busan, Shanghai, Ningbo, Yantian, Singapore, Colombo, Jeddah, Port Said(W), Alexandria, Mersin, Koper, Trieste, Rijeka, Venice, Port Said(W), Singapore, Hong Kong, Busan. The departure from South Korea will be on 30 May 2010.
