CMA CGM to start SAFRAN service

CMA CGM is to expand offer from Europe to South America

The French container shipping group CMA CGM adds a new liner service to the global route network, which will operate under the name SAFRAN-service between Europe and the South American East coast. With 6 vessels, each offering a capacity of 2,800 TEU and an ample number of connections for reefer-containers, departures from Argentina and Brazil to Europe will be offered in a weekly rhythm. Hence the transportation capacity on these routes is doubled, as the Management announced in a press release.

In westbound traffic Rotterdam is the first port for loads of the SAFRAN-service in Europe; followed by Hamburg, Antwerp and Le Havre. In South America the service calls alternating at Salvador de Bahia or Suape (every two weeks) and weekly at Santos, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Rio Grande, Itajai, Paranagua and Rio de Janeiro. At the latter named port the vessels start their return-journey via Tanger in North Africa to Rotterdam.
