Mainfreight becomes new owner of the Wim Bosman Group

Takeover of Wim Bosman Group secures a strong presence in Europe for Mainfreight logistics group from New Zealand

 

A new owner is to board the Wim Bosman Group with its headquarters in `s-Heerenberg in the Netherlands. The 70 years old, long-term head of Wim Bosman sells the enterprise to the Mainfreight Group from Auckland in New Zealand. The acquisition is a strong strategic fit for the new owner in the European transport and logistics market.

The brand name Wim Bosman will be maintained. The new owner guarantees also continuity for employees and customers of the Dutch transport and logistics group. Mainfreight manager Mark Newman will succeed Wim Bosman in his function as CEO of the group effective 1 April 2011. Wim Bosman will change to the Supervisory Board.

Wim Bosman employs more than 1,600 persons at 16 branches in seven European countries (Netherlands, Belgium, France, UK, Germany, Poland, Romania). In 2010 they generated a turnover of EUR 275 million by providing services in the segments of transport, warehousing, distribution, customs and supply chain management. Around 1,500 transport units and logistics terminals with 340,000 m² hall space form the basic inventory. The integration into the Mainfreight Group strengthens company in the segment of worldwide logistics services.

The Mainfreight Group was established in 1978 by Bruce Plested and is registered at the New Zealand Stock Exchange as a specialist for “Global Supply Chain Logistics“. More than 3,000 employees at 166 locations in New Zealand, Australia, China and the US provide services in the segments national and international transportations, warehousing and supply chain management. The target of the management is to expand their worldwide market presence.
